Camera Features of the N97

The Nokia N97 has a 5 megapixel camera. A standard in the N series, along with the Carl Zeiss lens. A new feature is a dual LED flash. It's a shame it's not xenon flash, but this may keep the cost and battery consumption down whilst improving the qualify of photos taken at night.

More interesting is the video recording feature being promoted by Nokia. They boast "DVD quality video capture" in 16:9 widescreen format. We're delighted to see widescreen video capture, viewable on the fantastic N97 wide touch screen. Let's hope the battery survives this, but at least there is plenty of internal memory (32GB) to handle the function as well as up to 16GB of external memory at any one time.

We're excited to see how well the handset allows you to use photo and video recording with social networking online. In particular, we're hoping to see accurate geotagging that uses the GPS to log the location of each photo or video, so that when they are shared online, whether at Nokia's ovi.com or elsewhere, friends can see where the photos were taken.
